The American Cancer Society’s Cattle Barons Ball Goes Virtual

The event scheduled for October will broadcast on NBC 12, Facebook Live and YouTube

The American Cancer Society’s two Cattle Barons Ball events – Roanoke and Richmond – have joined forces for a statewide virtual event this year. Local NBC12 news celebrities Andrew Freiden NBC12 and Anthony Antoine NBC12 will host the 2020 virtual Virginia Cattle Barons Ball from 7-8 p.m. on Oct. 17. Auctioneer Kevin Pauley will host the auction and mission drive for the event.

The virtual doors open on the online event at 7:00 p.m. The event will broadcast and stream live from Richmond on NBC12, Facebook and YouTube with the help of AVP Media LLC and include the same engaging entertainment that’s made the Richmond Cattle Barons Ball one of the area’s premier annual fundraisers: an exciting live auction, a robust silent auction and a heart-rendering call to action for the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving mission. Local favorite Main Street Station Band RVA will provide music entertainment.

Presenting Sponsor Haley Auto Group will also draw the winner of a new car. Tickets are available at any Haley Dealership for $25.

The pandemic forced the event to go virtual this year to keep everyone safe. Although we can’t join together this year at Keystone Acres as we have in the past, the American Cancer Society’s mission matters now more than ever. Even during this crisis, we continue to save lives, celebrate lives and fight for a world without cancer.

“During this difficult time, cancer won’t stop, and neither will we,” said Cattle Barons Chair Clarence Williams, who co-chairs the event with his wife Carol. “Even though we cannot currently gather in person, we’re looking to support the mission of the American Cancer Society. Everyone has been touched by cancer in some way, in fact, I’m a two-time cancer survivor. That is why our family supports the American Cancer Society’s fight against cancer, and we hope that you will stand together with us, even when we’re apart.”

The American Cancer Society serves as the nation’s leading nonprofit private fundraiser of research, and currently funds nearly $11 million in research grants in Virginia alone. But it now faces a $200 million shortfall in national research funding because of COVID19. With the help of the Virginia and Richmond communities, we can give hope the advantage over the pandemic.
