New Executive Director Named for the Central and Western Virginia and Greater Richmond Chapters of the Alzheimer’s Association

Richmond, VA, June 14, 2021 - Lissa A. Greenlee joined the Association on May 24 as the new chapter executive in the Greater Richmond and Central & Western Virginia Chapters.

Greenlee has more than 18 years of experience in management, sales and non-profit success. She was most recently the executive director of the Virginia Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and also served as a senior national director and campaign director.

“While at the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Lissa worked to collaborate with national leadership to develop strategies targeted at increasing revenue, increasing margins, cultivating volunteers and increasing overall visibility of the organization,” said Kate Rooper, Region leader for the Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C. chapters.

Lissa has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Illinois in Urbana, IL and holds a master of education from the University of Virginia.

Marie Kolendo, chapter executive for both the Greater Richmond and Central & Western Virginia Chapters, is retiring from the Alzheimer’s Association on July 2. Marie joined the Association as the chapter executive of the Greater Richmond Chapter in July of 2015.

“Marie took on oversight for the Central & Western Virginia Chapter in January 2019 and had worked to build a strong collaborative team between the two areas. Marie was instrumental in taking the Richmond Walk to End Alzheimer’s to new heights. Over this past year, despite the pandemic, Marie and her team moved the Richmond Walk to #19 in 2020 from #30 in 2019,” said Rooper.

Prior to joining the Association, Marie served on the Richmond Chapter Board of Directors for six years, while she was the senior vice president & chief risk officer for LTC at Genworth, a role she held for more than 19 years.
