The City of Roanoke has executed a contract with E.C. Pace Company, Inc. to construct the Melrose Avenue Streetscape Improvement Project. Construction work will begin July 19, 2021, and will be performed in the 2200 and 2300 blocks of Melrose Avenue. Improvements to be made include the installation of new sidewalk, curb and gutter; concrete accessible ramps; storm drainage facilities; water and sanitary utility upgrades; pedestrian lighting; Valley Metro Bus Shelters; surface asphalt pavement; and landscaping. This will be a 12-month project. At the completion of construction activities, this project will improve safety, beautification, and provide better connection within the community along the Melrose-Orange Avenue corridor. The total construction cost is $1,900,000.
