Roanoke County Government: Traffic Alert (6/3-6/6): Ironman 70.3 Virginia's Blue Ridge Traffic Impacts

Starting Thursday, June 3, drivers can expect traffic impacts associated with the Ironman 70.3 Virginia's Blue Ridge event to be held on June 6. Message boards will be in place to communicate changes to drivers. Be aware of the following:

  • Starting Thursday, June 3, Route 648 (Reservoir Road) will only be open to local traffic.
  • On Sunday, June 6, the right northbound lane of Route 11 (Lee Hwy) will be closed between Route 648 (Reservoir Road) and the Town of Buchanan.
  • On Sunday, June 6, Route 43 (Parkway Drive) will be closed to through traffic from 7 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. between Buchanan and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
  • During the event, police will be present to assist with traffic control, particularly at the Route 220 Alternate and Gateway Crossing intersections.
