Roanoke To Recognize National Public Works Week

The week of May 16–22, 2021, is National Public Works Week. Sponsored by the American Public Works Association/Canadian Public Works Association, this special week invites APWA members to expresses their appreciation for the public works professionals who work for them. That work focuses on infrastructure, facilities, and services that are of vital importance to sustainable and resilient communities, and to the public health, high quality of life, and well-being of citizens. The year 2021 marks the 61st annual National Public Works Week sponsored by AWPA

At their 2 p.m. meeting on May 17, 2021, Roanoke City Council will adopt a proclamation recognizing May 16–22, 2021, as Public Works Week in the City of Roanoke, applauding the dedicated efforts of our public works professionals in the Solid Waste, Stormwater, Facilities Management, and Transportation divisions, and in General Services Department. These workers are responsible for rebuilding, improving, and protecting our transportation and solid waste systems, public buildings, and other structures and facilities essential for citizens.
