VA Colleges Report Coronavirus Spikes; JMU Goes Mostly Virtual

The Virginia Department of Health reported 1,126 new cases of the coronavirus on Thursday, bringing the cumulative total to 123,668 cases. There were 11 new deaths reported on Thursday, and a total of 2,652 people with the virus have died. In all, 9,741 hospitalizations have been reported.

Texas Man Dies After Being Struck By 2 Vehicles On I-395

Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit of the Metropolitan Police Department identified the victim Wednesday in a traffic fatality that occurred Aug. 23 on I-395, according to a release. MPD identified the decedent as Caleb Herndon, 21, of Baytown, Texas.

Alexandria City Council To Consider Catholic U Satellite Campus

A special use permit for a satellite campus of Catholic University of America (CUA) is going through the approval process in Alexandria. On Tuesday, the Planning Commission recommended the proposal, and the City Council public hearing is scheduled for Sept. 12.
