The firm now occupies more than 28,000 sq. ft. in the LEED Gold certified, 22-story building at 7900 Tysons One Place.
“Reed Smith attorneys have always been players in this region’s real estate, zoning and construction litigation sectors,” said Sandy Thomas, Reed Smith’s Global Managing Partner. “The firm represented the ‘who’s who’ of real estate and development involved in taking Fairfax County and Tysons Corner from a sleepy suburb and dairy farms in the '60s to the thriving business hub that it has become today. We are very excited to be moving to one of the marquee buildings in that ongoing development.”

“We’re thrilled for many reasons to have moved into this spectacular new space, not the least of which is how it will promote enhanced connections and collaboration with our Washington, D.C., office, now just 30 minutes away,” added Carol Honigberg, Reed Smith’s Northern Virginia Managing Partner. “Tysons gives our clients and attorneys every business and personal amenity they need. We expect our new location will be an asset in our recruitment efforts as well.”
According to Reed Smith LLP, Tysons Tower was named the best building in Northern Virginia for 2014, earning an Award of Excellence from the Northern Virginia Chapter of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association. In addition to Reed Smith, the building is the home for some of the most prominent technology, consulting and federal contracting firms in the world, including Intelsat S.A. and Deloitte LLP.
Pat Hiltibidal, Reed Smith’s Chief of Office Services, said the design of the new Tysons Tower office reflects the firm’s focus on making the best sustainability choices. “Across the firm’s international platform, we design for efficiency, functionality and environmentally sound aesthetics,” she said. “The result is a space that is light, with glass interior walls, daylight exposure in every office, and a view for miles and miles. It is a great workspace.”
The new office space contains a wellness room, mother’s room, catering kitchen, café, coffee bar and guest area, in addition to multiple conference rooms with telescoping doors providing a premier event space. The space was also created to support office hoteling and office sharing to accommodate travel and work schedules of the firm’s lawyers.
The office's approximately three dozen lawyers provide service on both large and small matters across a range of key sectors, including real estate, health care, wealth management and tax planning, corporate and securities, financial services, litigation, intellectual property, technology, and employment law. Its litigators have distinguished themselves in federal and state courts, with particular success in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia’s "Rocket Docket." Peterson Companies, Virginia Retirement System, Amtrak, Verizon, Fairfax Radiological Consultants and National Resident Matching Program are among the office’s clients, according to Reed Smith LLP.
