Loudoun Schools Move Forward With Hybrid In-Person Model

The Loudoun County School Board approved a plan Tuesday night to start stage two of in-person hybrid learning. The board directed staff to prepare to initiate part-time in-person learning for students in grades K-2 on Oct. 27.

Daily Coronavirus Case Count at 2-Month Low In Virginia

The Virginia Department of Health reported 580 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, the lowest statewide total since 354 cases on July 6. The seven-day average of cases is 890, compared to 1,010 a week ago on Sept. 16. The cumulative total of cases is 142,590, while deaths stand at 3,089 and hospitalizations at 10,718.

3 Major Floods Spur Push For Improvements In Alexandria

After multiple cases of severe flooding within 14 months and climate change imminent, city officials are exploring ways to accelerate flood mitigation projects and other strategies. On Sept. 22 the Alexandria City Council held a work session to discuss acceleration of flood mitigation strategies and stormwater investments in response to the severe flooding on July 8, 2019, and July 23 and Sept. 10, 2020.

Reston Homicide Victim Remains Unidentified

Six days after a woman was found dead in Reston, Fairfax County Police are still waiting for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to confirm her identity, according to a post on FCPD's Twitter account. Police are withholding the victim's name until they receive confirmation and next of kin have been notified.
