Bike To Work Day Returns In 2021 With Vienna Area Pit Stops

The Bike to Work Day event on May 21 will encourage people working remotely to participate.

VIENNA, VA — The Washington, D.C. area's 20th Annual Bike to Work Day event will be held Friday, May 21. Even those who still work from home are encouraged to participate.

The free Bike to Work Day event features over 100 pit stops around the DC region in DC, Maryland and Virginia. The first 15,000 people who register and show up to a pit stop will receive a T-shirt. Staggered hours and COVID-19 policies will be in place.

All registered participants are entered into a raffle to win a bicycle from Brooklyn Bicycle Co, All-City, or Brompton. Participants do not need to be present to win.

There will be various COVID-19 policies in effect at Bike to Work Day stops. When registering, participants will select staggered check-in times at 30-minute intervals. Pit stop staff, volunteers, and participants must wear masks covering their nose and mouth in the pit stop areas. Six feet of distancing between people will be enforced, while food and drink must be consumed outside the pit stop area. Bicycling convoys will not happen in 2021 due to COVID-19.

The event is sponsored by Commuter Connections and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association. The event is rain or shine, although pit stops may cancel in cases of extreme weather.
