Chef Patrick Bazin Shares Story For Celiac Awareness Month

From Bazin’s on Church: Bazin’s on Church will be introducing a month-long “#GlutenFreed” campaign in support of Celiac Awareness Month. Owner, Chef Patrick Bazin, was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2013. Following his diagnosis, Chef Patrick was determined to create gluten free recipes that would be just as fulfilling and complex as the other menu items that customers had enjoyed over the previous years. “Instead of taking out the gluten, I like to substitute so every palate is satisfied at the end of their meal,” said Bazin. Bazin’s on Church will share Chef Patrick’s stories of being a chef and gluten free, while also sharing specials, and hosting a #GlutenFreed Pop-Up.

According to the Celiac Disease Foundation, “1 in 100 people are diagnosed worldwide.” Throughout the month of May, Chef Patrick and his staff will work together to bring awareness to the disease and highlight some of their favorite gluten free dishes such as a French Onion soup made with braised short rib, bone broth and macadamia nut, as well as the Maple-Miso Chilean Sea Bass served with wasabi mashed potatoes, baby spinach and tamari-ginger sauce. Chef Patrick will also be sharing some of his grocery store finds, gluten free alternatives, and home recipes.

Bazin’s will end the month by bringing back their popular #GlutenFreed Pop-Up on Thursday, May 31st. This special event will consist of a 100% gluten free menu inspired by Chef Patrick’s homemade favorites.

Chef Patrick Bazin has over 30 years of executive chef experience in the DC area. Before opening Bazin’s on Church in 2006, he was the chef at the Red Sage and Occidental Grill in Washington, DC.
