Daily Coronavirus Case Average Near 1,500 In Virginia
The state's positive average of COVID-19 tests remains in the 5 percent range as over 1.2 million are fully vaccinated.

VIRGINIA — On Sunday, 1,392 additional COVID-19 cases and 20 additional deaths were reported by the Virginia Department of Health. The seven-day average of positive tests is 5.7 percent as of March 24.
The positive rate is well below the 2021 high of 17.4 percent on Jan. 3. The number of PCR tests reported daily has also fallen from 35,038 on Jan. 14. The average now stands at 17,811 daily testing encounters.
The seven-day average of daily cases is 1,495, a notable difference from the peak of 6,166 on Jan. 18. The average started to decline in the latter part of January, flattened out in March and made small increases during the month.

COVID-19 hospitalizations stand at 1,009 statewide, including 225 patients in the intensive care units and 128 on ventilators. At a peak, the hospitalization average was 3,290.9 patients on Jan. 18. Among the 12,828 hospital beds occupied, COVID-19 patients make up approximately 7.8 percent.
Ventilator use among all hospital patients is at 28 percent, and ICU occupancy is at 76 percent, according to the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association.

As of Sunday, 2,337,858 people have at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose (27.4 percent of the population) and 1,253,021 are fully vaccinated (14.7 percent of the population). The state is averaging 57,844 doses administered per day.

- Manassas: 4,152 cases, 166 hospitalizations, 45 deaths; increase of five cases
- Manassas Park: 1,167 cases, 67 hospitalizations, 12 deaths; no changes
- Prince William County: 41,710 cases, 1,506 hospitalizations, 468 deaths; increase of 92 cases and one death
