Drunk Driver Hits Vehicle, Walks Away: Vienna Police

Here are the latest incidents from the Vienna Police blotter, for March 8-14.

VIENNA, VA — The Vienna police arrested a man Monday night, March 11, for driving while intoxicated after he tried to walk away after his vehicle struck another vehicle, according to a police report.

A resident living in the 200 block of Pleasant Street SW reported hearing a noise, and when she looked outside, she saw a person walking around her vehicle. When officers arrived, they found the woman’s vehicle had been struck by another vehicle.

The striking vehicle was still at the scene. However, the driver, a 47-year-old man from Tapawingo Road, SW in Vienna, had left an illegible note and left the scene. Officers found the driver walking in the area of Courthouse and Plum and detected signs of impairment.

An officer took the driver to the Vienna police station, where he was offered the opportunity to provide a sample of his breath for analysis. The man was then transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Below are other notable police incidents reported between March 8 and March 14 in Vienna. An arrest does not always mean someone was taken into custody and that the person is automatically guilty of a crime.

Arrest – Noise Violation 19-002427
362 Maple Avenue, East
March 8 4:52 a.m.
Officers responded to the area for a noise complaint. Ofc. Farr observed a garbage truck operator emptying a dumpster in the parking lot. The truck operator, a 59-year-old man from Mattapony Drive in Woodbridge, Virginia, was advised that he was in violation of the Town’s Noise ordinance and was released on a summons for violating that ordinance.

Assault 19-002435

320 Maple Avenue, East
March 8 1:00 p.m.
A civil dispute between a landlord and tenant escalated when the two men shoved each other. Both men were advised of the warrant process should they wish to pursue charges for assault.

Destruction of Property 19-002440
Tapawingo Road and Park Street, SE
March 8 7:45 p.m.
A resident advised he was eastbound on Tapawingo Road at the stop sign to turn left onto Park Street when he almost struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk who was walking a dog. The resident stopped to apologize to the pedestrian. However, the pedestrian began yelling at him and kicked his vehicle, causing damage above the front left tire.

Juvenile – Runaway 19-002441
Gibson Circle, SW
March 8 between 4:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
A resident reported their teenage daughter left home after an argument. The daughter returned home several hours later.

Arrest – Destruction of Property 19-002446
Gibson Circle, SW
March 8 11:55 p.m.
While an officer was speaking to a resident to follow up on Incident #19-002441, the juvenile was in another part of the house and began having an altercation with other family members. Additional officers responded to assist. During the altercation, the daughter punched holes in the walls. Ofc. Murray transported the daughter to Fairfax Juvenile Intake, where a petition was served charging Destruction of Property, and she was placed into Shelter Care.

Noise Violation 19-002515
The Bey Lounge
303 Mill Street, NE
March 10 11:25 p.m.
A resident reported a complaint of loud music coming from The Bey Lounge. Officers checked the area around the resident’s home and The Bey Lounge but did not observe any noise violation.
