The Virginia Department of Transportation is conducting overhead bridge work that will close the westbound direction of I-66.
FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Work at the Interstate 66 and Capital Beltway interchange will require a full I-66 closure in the westbound direction over several upcoming days.

Work at the I-66 and Beltway interchange is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. VDOT is adding access to and from the existing 495 Express Lanes and the new I-66 Express Lanes, as well as building new connections between Express Lanes and general purpose lanes. The I-66 Express Lanes between the Beltway and University Boulevard in Gainesville are expected to open alongside regular lanes in December 2022.
Drivers should also be aware of upcoming overnight lane closures and traffic stoppages on I-66 from Nutley Street to Vaden Drive. On Friday, June 11, Saturday, June 12 and Monday, June 14, westbound I-66 will be reduced to one lane from 10 p.m. to 6 p.m. nightly (until 5 a.m. on Tuesday). Periodic stoppages up to 20 minutes will be in place each night.
