TYSONS, VA — As thunderstorms moved through the region Wednesday night, a lightning strike resulted in a Tysons house fire.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue responded to a single-family home in the 1900 block of Hull Road around 8:57 p.m. Wednesday. Four residents were home when the fire occurred. The residents heard a loud bang, saw a flash of lightning and smelled smoke. Residents evacuated and called 911. No one was injured.

Fire department units quickly put out the fire. Investigators determined the cause of the fire was a lightning strike on the exterior of the home. Smoke alarms did not activate due to the fire's location on the exterior. Damages were estimated to be $90,000.
