Madison Girls Win Conference Lacrosse Championship

Warhawks upset previously undefeated Langley, advance to Region 6A North Tournament today

For the 6th consecutive year, the Madison Warhawks won the Liberty Conference 6 Championship, defeating a Langley team that had entered the tournament with a perfect record on the season. At the match-up on May 13 at Langley, the Warhawks began their scoring drive early and never let up. They held the lead throughout and were up by as many as 6 goals in the second half. Warhawk defenders Shannon Condon, Hailey Swaak, Jacqueline Schultz, Caroline Kurtz, Ashley Go, Laurel Yano and goalie Ellie Socher battled against a surge by the Saxons with 4 minutes remaining but were able to hold on for an 11-9 victory. Scoring for Madison were Annabelle Bentley, Zoe Dyer, Carly Rogers, Olivia Choutka (2 each), Anya Saponja, Diana Lowther and Go (1 each). Bentley, Go, Schultz and Andie Battin had assists. The Warhawks begin regional play tonight at home against Osborne.
