Madison High Swim Team Breaks School Records

Madison High School will be sending athletes to the state swim competition on Feb. 16-17, according to Fairfax County Public Schools.

VIENNA, VA -- The Madison Swim and Dive team broke six school records at the regional meet last Friday and will be sending athletes to the state competition on Feb. 16-17, according to Fairfax County Public Schools.

The women’s 200 medley relay team set a new school record with a time of 1:45.61. Rachael Holp, Anna Keating, Elizabeth Kuhlkin and Anna Miller are the four underclassmen that make up this relay team and just began to swim together as a relay team this year.

Keating, who is a freshmen, also set a school record for the 200 Individual Medley, with a time of 2:03.51 and the 100 Breastroke with a time of 1:01.82. Madeline LaPorte, a junior, set two new school records this weekend, in the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly.

The Women’s Swim and Dive team won the school’s first-ever 6A North Region title. The Men’s team placed third at the event. Both the Men’s and Women’s team move on to the state competition level.
