In Memoriam: Surrie Chalew Armstrong

VIENNA, VA -- Surrie Chalew Armstrong passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer. She is predeceased by her father Sidney Chalew.

Surrie was born and raised in Baltimore, MD. She graduated from Milford Mill High School, after high school she received her Bachelors in Urban Design from University of Maryland, College Park, and later her Masters in Urban Planning from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. After graduating she was a consultant on Baltimore’s Inner Harbor Project. She then became a marketing consultant in 1983 for Pulte Home Corporation, Columbia, MD and Northern, VA.

She married her husband Jerry Armstrong in March of 1990, together they raised two children. She joined her husband in their custom home building business in 2008. She joined Sotheby’s International Realty in Mclean, VA. Surrie Armstong is survived by her husband of 26 years, Jerry; her son, Zack; her daughter, Melissa; her mother, Ralene Chalew; her brother, Stuart (Gail) along with three nieces and one nephew.

Family will receive friends at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA on Thursday, July 28 from 9 to 10 AM. Her funeral will be at the funeral home’s chapel at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Fairfax Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Surrie’s name may be made to Life with Cancer, www.lifewithcancer.org.
