Patricia A. Stangler, 87, Longtime Vienna Resident

Patricia A. Stangler died at her home after living in Vienna for almost 60 years.

Patricia A. Stangler, 87, of Vienna, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2019 at her home.

Patricia was born on March 25, 1932 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Roy & Ann Lynch and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis. She married Marlow J. Stangler in 1955 and together moved to Rochester, NY.

They lived across the country in Cincinnati, Ohio, Nevada, and Battle Creek, Michigan eventually settling in Vienna, Virginia where they lived for almost 60 years.

Patricia raised 3 sons and a daughter while attending classes at Northern Virginia Community College, and working at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) where she was an Administrative Assistant in the Mapping Division. She retired from the USGS in 1996. Patricia was a Red Hat, volunteered at St. Mark's Catholic Church helping with weddings and for the National Active & Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) in Oakton, VA. Patricia spent many summers camping with the family at the beach in Chincoteague, VA. Patricia was also a Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother while her children were in Scouts.

In retirement Patricia enjoyed visiting with friends, traveling with her sons Paul and Mark, bird watching and spending time with her grandchildren.

Patricia is survived by her children Mark (Cathy), Paul, Sheila O'Brien (Walter) and Patrick (Louise); six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Services are being provided by Money & King in Vienna, VA. Viewing to be held at 10 a.m. on Aug. 23, 2019 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 8601 Wolftrap Road, SE, Vienna, VA. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. with burial at Fairfax Memorial Park in Fairfax, VA. Reception follows back at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church cafeteria.
