Resiliency, grit, and determination are just a few words used to describe the Madison boys' lacrosse effort in the state semi-final game against the South County Stallions. After the Warhawks took a three goal lead in the third period, the Stallions scored four unanswered goals to take a 6-5 lead with 2:21 remaining in the third quarter. The final 14 minutes provided for a thrilling finish with Madison outscoring South County 3-1 to take home the 8-7 win and advance to the state championship game. Madison (19-2) will face Robinson Secondary School (16-5), who defeated Battlefield in the other state semi-final game. The state championship game will be played at Deep Run High School on Saturday, June 8th at 12:30 pm as part of the VHSL Championships Spring Jamboree at Richmond area schools.
