State Title Caps Perfect Season For Madison Softball Team: Report

The Madison High School Warhawks finish 28-0 with a victory Saturday to capture their second straight VHSL Class 6 state championship.

VIENNA, VA — Madison High School's girls softball team captured a second straight state championship on Saturday with a dominating performance on a field down in the Richmond area, according to a media report. The Warhawks shut out Manchester High School, 9-0, in the title game of the Virginia High School League's Class 6 state tournament, InsideNova reported.

The victory capped a 28-0 season in which the Warhawks outscored opponents 280-19. The victory extended their two-season winning streak to 42 games, InsideNove reported.

The Warhawks clinched the state championship at Glen Allen High School, in Henrico County. Manchester High School also is in the Richmond area, in Chesterfield County.

Alex Echazarreta struck out seven, walked one and threw 91 pitches in Saturday's victory for the Warhawks. She also hit a two-run homer, InsideNove reported. Madison went 8-0 in the postseason this spring, which included region and district tournament titles.
