Stately Colonials, Beauty In Heart Of Vienna: VA Dream Homes

The greatest challenge for buyers continues to be shrinking levels of available inventory, Virginia Realtors said in its January 2021 Home Sales Report, released Thursday.

While the inventory has been on a downward trajectory for years, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused more would-be sellers to delay selling their homes.

“It’s a challenging market for buyers in Virginia right now,” Virginia Realtors Chief Economist Lisa Sturtevant PhD said in a statement. “Some would-be buyers have put their home buying on hold or have decided to remain renters. Sales activity could slow in the months ahead, not because of a softening of demand, but rather as a result of insufficient inventory.”

In some areas, sellers are seeing multiple offers on properties and in many cases, homes are selling above asking price, according to the report.

Even with the low inventory, there are some wonderful homes on the market across the region. In Fredericksburg, an elegant all brick colonial with a beautiful lush yard, a huge detached carriage house-style 3-car garage is on the market for $1,500,000.

In Vienna, a fabulous custom home offers an open floor plan and includes a great room, a gourmet kitchen, and lower level with a bar. Outside, residents can enjoy a deck and greenery providing privacy in the backyard.
