VIENNA, VA — Two Orange Line Metro stations are closed the weekend of March 7 and 8 for summer platform rehabilitation project preparations, according to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.

Free shuttle buses will replace trains between the Vienna and West Falls Church stations. The Vienna and Dunn Loring stations are closed. Trains will run every 12 minutes Saturday and every 15 minutes Sunday between West Falls Church and New Carrollton.

The other major weekend Metro disruptions happen on the Red, Green and Yellow Lines. Red Line trains will single track between Dupont Circle and Van Ness due to installations related to cellular service in tunnels and a new radio system. Trains will run every 16 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont, and additional trains will run every eight minutes between Farragut North and Glenmont.

Metro riders should prepare for upcoming parking changes related to the summer Metro shutdown of the Vienna, Dunn Loring and East Falls Church stations. As of March 15, parking at the Vienna Metro will be reduced by 10 percent, leaving around 4,200 daily parking spaces. Parking lot 1 on the north side will be closed starting on March 15, while the parking garages on both sides and lot 3 on the south side will remain open.

Daily parking will be completely closed at East Falls Church station starting on March 15. The kiss and ride lot will remain open for pick-ups and drop-offs only. At the West Falls Church station, parking availability will be cut in half as the surface parking lot closes. The 1,100-spot parking garage will remain open, but Metro expects parking will be limited and fill by 7 a.m.

There are no planned parking changes at Dunn Loring station, which has 1,964 daily parking spaces.

Metro plans to provide information in March on free shuttle buses and other transportation alternatives during the shutdown. More information can be found on Metro's platform rehabilitation project page.
