Wolf Trap Hosting Third 'First-Time Campout' for Local Students
The overnight program for fifth- and sixth-graders conveniently coincides with a Fairfax County school holiday beginning Oct. 9.

For the third time in the last 13 months, Wolf Trap will host a First-TIme Campout for local fifth- and sixth-grade students on Oct. 9-10.
The overnight program will take place on Wolf Trap’s campus in Vienna, and is aimed at connecting kids with nature in a nearby, structured environment.
Following the guidance of older Boy and Girl Scouts, campers will set up and sleep in tents, learn to cook food in a Dutch oven, take nature hikes, make campfire s’mores and enjoy a variety of other educational activities.

The campout is sponsored by the Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, and is hosted by the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, parents of scouts, Venture Crews, Friends of Wolf Trap, the Wolf Trap staff and volunteers from the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club.
The campout begins at the Filene Center at 10 a.m. on October 9th, which coincides with a Fairfax County School holiday. There is a $30 registration fee, and the program will be capped at 48 campers on a first come, first serve basis.

If the program reaches capacity before your child is registered, Wolf Trap has already hinted at another first-time campout to be announced in February for this spring. Wolf Trap hosted previous campouts in April of this year and September of 2014.
