ALDI Now Accepting Credit Cards

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- As of Tuesday, ALDI will accept credit cards – including Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express – at all of its stores, the discount grocery chain announced.

ALDI opened a store in Alexandria’s West End in December and has two more in the works -- one in Del Ray at a former Giant location and another on Duke Street, across the street from Harris Teeter.

“As ALDI continues to evolve by expanding its product lines and moving into new markets, the way we do business will continue to evolve as well,” said Jason Hart, CEO, ALDI, said in a company news release. “We care about being able to make our customers’ shopping experiences simpler and better every time they come to see us; and offering them the convenience of using their credit cards will help us do just that.”

ALDI previously only accepted cash and debit cards. This change is based on feedback from customers, the discount grocer noted. ALDI notes that the change will “have no impact on the prices shoppers pay for the high-quality ALDI products they love.”

A few other company updates include:

· ALDI completed its removal of added MSG, certified synthetic colors and partially hydrogenated oils from all of its exclusive food brands, which make up 90 percent of the foods ALDI offers.

· ALDI recently announced Healthier Checklanes featuring single-serve nuts and trail mixes, dried fruits and granola bars to offer shoppers smarter choices at checkout and eliminate the temptation of unhealthy impulse-buys. Healthier Checklanes will be in all ALDI stores by end of 2016.

· Later this month, ALDI will open its first stores in Southern California – spreading high-quality products at everyday low prices from coast-to-coast.
