Alexandria Man Charged For Multiple Taxicab Robberies
DC Police say the man was involved in multiple armed robberies within an hour.

Metropolitan Police have arrested an Alexandria man Sunday for his role in multiple armed robberies of cab drivers within an hour in DC. Jude Hammad, 28, was charged with two counts of armed robbery and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon. Police are investigating three robberies in all and are seeking additional suspects.
The robberies occured between 2:48 a.m. and 3:36 a.m. in Northwest DC, police say. In the first incident, two suspects robbed a cab driver in the 2000 block of T Street NW. One of the suspects had a gun, and both assaulted the cab driver, took his property and fled.
A similar scenario unfolded at a cab in the 900 block of Massachusetts Avenue NW at 3:25 a.m. Two suspects stole cash from the driver, and one of them was armed.

During the last encounter in the 1100 block of 22nd Street NW, three suspects attempted to rob a cab driver. When one of the suspects displayed a gun, the driver sped away. Nothing was stolen.
The robberies remain under investigation. Anyone with information should call 202-727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's tip line at 50411. A reward of $10,000 is available for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
