Alexandria: No. 1 Foodie City?

Voting closes Friday in a poll to determine the number one “Foodie City” in the South by ConventionSouth magazine, and Alexandria is in the running.

As of noon Thursday, Alexandria was in second place with 33 percent of the vote. Memphis, Tenn., was in the lead with 43 percent.

According to the West End Business Association, winning the poll would pay dividends in terms of free publicity for local restaurants, other businesses and the entire city.

The WEBA, Del Ray Business Association and the Alexandria Convention & Visitors Association are asking residents to forward the survey to friends and contacts and promote it on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and other social media outlets. The winner will be announced after polls close Friday and will be featured in the May issue of ConventionSouth magazine.
