Alexandria Pedestrian Dies After Annandale Crash: Police
Police believe the pedestrian wasn't in a crosswalk when the crash happened.
ANNANDALE, VA—A pedestrian from Alexandria died Saturday, May 4 after a previous crash in Annandale, according to Fairfax County Police.
The crash happened around 10 p.m. on April 25. The pedestrian was crossing Little River Turnpike near Carrico Drive when a 1997 BMW 750 struck him. Police do not believe the pedestrian was in a crosswalk.
The victim was identified as David Neal, 62, of Alexandria.

The driver stayed on the scene to cooperate with officers. Police determined speed or alcohol were not factors in the crash for the driver. Alcohol may have been a factor for the pedestrian. No charges have been announced.

Police say there have been nine pedestrians in Fairfax County so far in 2019. The county has 50 pedestrian-related crashes and 57 injuries this year. A campaign to enforce traffic safety laws in Northern Virginia, DC and Maryland is running through May 13.
