Alexandria Schools Make Decision For Feb. 20 Classes

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Alexandria City Public Schools will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 20 as forecasters anticipate winter weather.

The closure applies to offices and activities in schools or on school grounds. Essential personnel, which includes building engineers, custodians, maintenance shop employees and security staff, should report for work.

Alexandria is under a winter storm warning from 1 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday. The National Weather Service calls for 3 to 6 inches of snow and ice up to one-tenth of an inch. Snow is likely early Wednesday with a shift to sleet and freezing rain in the late morning and early afternoon. Rain should take over by Wednesday evening.
