Alexandria Teens Tied To Gangs Caught In Carjacking

The Alexandria teens stole a car, crashed it and threatened a driver at knifepoint in Springfield before police caught them.

SPRINGFIELD, VA—Two Alexandria teens tied with gang activity are facing charges after a chaotic carjacking in Springfield Wednesday.

Fairfax County Police believe the two suspects stole a Honda Accord from a Prince William County driveway in the morning. They ended up in the 6700 block of Hopewell Avenue in Springfield, but the car broke down after they crashed into several parked cars.

They abandoned the car, turning their sights on another in the 5000 block of Blacksburg Road. A woman was in the car as they approached and threatened her at knifepoint to no avail. The victim was not injured.

After failing to steal the car, they fled from the scene. Police were soon on scene and began their search. The Fairfax County Police helicopter ended up spotting one of the suspects in the woods, and an officer on the ground soon got him into custody. Officers found the other suspect in the 6800 block of Commercial Drive.

Andonis Martinez Turcios, 19, and a 17-year-old, both of Alexandria, were arrested. Martinez Turcios was charged with attempted carjacking, gang participation, possession of stolen property and hit and run. The 17-year-old boy was charged with attempted carjacking, gang participation, possession of stolen property and failure to report an accident.
