Big Band Jazz puts a swing in your step at Old Town’s Market Square from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday with the U.S. Navy Band Commodores.
Keep your kids safe. The Alexandria Police Department in partnership with the Sheriff’s Office, Community & Human Services Department and the Center for Alexandria’s Children, is hosting a free SafeAssured Child Identification event for families with children 16 and younger. The Saturday event is at the police department, 3600 Wheeler Ave. in the Community Room from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
It’s Cinema Del Ray outdoors on Saturday at the Mount Vernon Recreation Center field at 2701 Commonwealth Ave. This week, attendees can enjoy family movie "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" beginning at dusk. Popcorn, beverages and candy will be for sale but you might want to bring a chair or blanket.

Alexandria’s School Enrollment: The New Normal? That and other topics will be on the agenda of the Long Range Educational Facilities Plan Work Group in a Saturday meeting open to the general public. The event will be held at the Burke Branch Library, 4701 Seminary Rd. from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Buy a book for a cause at the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria’s book sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Four Mile Run Farmers & Artisans Market. And while you’re there, catch Janna Audey perform from 10 a.m. to noon. Contact 4MRMarket@arlandria.org for more information.Â

Grape + Bean Rosemont is hosting its first-ever wine tasting with Spanish importer and expert Jonas Gustaffson and Grape + Bean owner David Gwathmey. The Sunday event will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 2 E. Walnut St. with a fee of $49 per person plus tax and includes wine, cheeses, meats and other treats.
