Bishop Ireton Hires New Varsity Head Wrestling Coach

Alexandria native is 2005 BI grad.

Bishop Ireton High School announced Monday that Kwinten Brown has accepted the position of Varsity
Head Wrestling Coach for the 2014-15 school year. He succeeds Don Dight, who moved to Thomas Edison High School.

The 27-year old Alexandria native is a 2005 graduate of Bishop Ireton and 2010 graduate from King University in Bristol, Tenn. “I am excited and honored to be selected for this position,” said Coach Brown. “This is one of
the school’s most accomplished programs and I plan to work hard to keep it a very successful
one.”

Brown is the Cardinals’ third on the list of all-time winners in Ireton wrestling history; he captained the King squad in his senior year of college wrestling. The coach was hired in 2010 to be the school’s assistant athletic director for facilities and transportation. He will remain in that capacity in his new position as head coach.

“I am excited to have another alumnus become a varsity head coach,” said Bill Simmons, Cardinals’ Athletic Director. “But more than that, I am thrilled that we have a coach with the knowledge, experience, and passion for wrestling and Bishop Ireton that Coach Brown brings to the position. There was not a better qualified person for the job.”

Wrestling begins Nov. 8 at Bishop Ireton.
