Christmas Eve Services in Northern Virginia, J Fest, and Closures

Most government services will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. See what’s opened and what’s closed. 

View a screening of Love, Actually attend a speed dating event. The event begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday at the Beatley Central Library on 5005 Duke St. in Alexandria. 

The Historic Christ Church is hosting several Christmas Eve services at 3 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. at the church on 118 N. Washington St. in Alexandria 

The Fairlington United Methodist Church has a family Christmas Eve service for children at 5 p.m., and a candlelight communion service at 10:30 p.m. at the church on 3900 King St.

The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection is hosting a Christmas Eve music prelude at 7:30 p.m. and a service at 8 p.m. they also have a service at 11 a.m. on Christmas day. The church is on 2280 N. Beauregard St.  

The Immanual Church on the Hill is hosting a Christmas Eve Pageant and Eucharist service at 5 p.m. at the Callaway Chapel at Episcopal High School on 1200 N. Quaker Lane. Their Christmas Eve service is at 11 p.m. at the church on 3606 Seminary Road and their Christmas Day service is at 11 a.m. 

Don’t celebrate Christmas? The Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia is hosting their annual J Fest on Christmas Day. The event is at 11 a.m. on 8900 Little River Turnpike in Fairfax. There will be games, arts and crafts, a moon bounce, and kosher food will be served. More information.

Also on Christmas Day, view Hava Nagila (The Movie), a “documentary romp through the history, mystery and meaning of the great Jewish standard,” event organizers say. The event is at 3 p.m. on Christmas Day at the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia at 8900 Little River Turnpike in Fairfax. Find out more information.
