DASH Bus Switches To Fare-Free, Boarding From Rear Door
DASH Bus has alternatives for riders impacted by the Van Dorn Street and Eisenhower Avenue Metro closures but urges essential travel only.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — DASH Bus has made a few changes in response to the new coronavirus outbreak and the closures of two Alexandria Metro stations. DASH eliminated bus fares until further notice and switched to boarding from the rear door to reduce the spread of the new coronavirus. Riders with disabilities or strollers can board through the front doors if a ramp is needed.
The bus service urges riders to take essential trips only. DASH is operating on an enhanced Saturday operating plan on weekdays, and there is no change to weekend service.
Metro's closure of 17 stations starting on Thursday, March 26 includes the Eisenhower Avenue and Van Dorn Street stations. DASH will continue to pick up and drop off riders from these stations, but Metrorail will not serve these stations.
