Enter Your Pet in 2015 Animal Welfare League Photo Contest
Pet photo calendar contest, an annual fundraiser for Alexandria shelter, is underway until Sept. 15.

More than 100 photos of Alexandria area pets have been submitted so far for the annual Animal Welfare League of Alexandria pet photo calendar contest.
In order to get a top spot in the calendar, pets receive votes; each time someone votes, they also make a donation to AWLA ($1 per vote with a $5 for five votes minimum). (So far, Abby and Max, who look to be a Pomeranian and a Yorkie, are in the top spot, with 765 votes.) Entries and voting began on July 15.
As of Tuesday, the annual fundraiser has raised nearly $13,000 of its $40,000 goal. Anyone can enter their pet in the photo calendar contest, up until noon on Sept. 15.

The registration fee is $25 per pet photo (if you have more than one pet in the photo, that’s OK). Every photo submitted is included in the calendar. In order to get your pet featured in a top spot — on the cover or a month or other top spots — it’s all in the voting/fundraising. If you register/enter your pet’s photo, you will receive a 2015 calendar. You can also register a special day on the calendar for your pet for an extra $10.
