Flooding Damage Closes Part Of Alexandria's Holmes Run Trail
Alexandria staff are assessing damages at city parks and trails and developing a repair plan.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — As Alexandria staff continue to assess damages from Monday's flash flooding, the city announced the closure of a portion of Holmes Run Trail. The trail is closed west of the North Ripley Street to just west of North Beauregard Street.
Flash flooding on July 8 caused Holmes Run stream levels to surge over 12 feet. This resulted in significant damage to paved and unpaved sections of the trail. The trail remains open at the Dora Kelley Nature Park and east of North Ripley Street. This portion of the trail will be closed for an extended amount of time.
