Fort Ward Hosts Revolutionary War Re-Enactment
Event takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Military history buffs and local residents are invited to Fort Ward Museum & Historic Site Sunday for a Revolutionary War re-enactment.
The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is free to the public. The park is located at 4301 W. Braddock Road in West End Alexandria.
The greater part of the day will involve camping and smaller battle demonstrations, said Joe Shumard, chairman of George Washington Birthday Celebration, which organizes the event.

At 2 p.m., there will be a “skirmish,” or battle between the British and the Patriots, for about 30 minutes. “That’s usually the thing people like to see,” Shumard said.
Shumard said he expects about 250 to 300 people to attend. The group has hosted the event every year since the 1970s.
