This weekend in Alexandria and beyond:
If you love knitting and classic movies, Friday Knit at the Movies is for you. Participants can bring a project that they are working on while watching this week’s classic movie, Jurassic Park. The free event is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at 1219 King St. in Alexandria.
The City of Alexandria is hosting a free SafeAssured Child Identification event for city residents. Child identification kits will be given for free to families with children 16 and under. The kit gives families all the vital information needed by law enforcement in the event that a child goes missing. Kits are available while supplies last. The event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at police headquarters on 3600 Wheeler Ave., Room 106.

Huntley Meadows Park is hosting a “Sketches in Nature” class. A park naturalist will give tips on adding sketches to your observations. The class for those over 15 is from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The class for children ages 9-13 is from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The park is at 3701 Lockheed Blvd. in Mount Vernon. Register online.

This weekend is “Super Science Saturday” at the National Air and Space Museum’s Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly. Participants can view demonstrations and check out hands-on activities related to science, technology, and engineering. The event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the center on 14390 Air & Space Museum Way. Admission is free, parking is $15.
