Arrest Made In Fatal West End Alexandria Shooting: Police
Police say the fatal shooting is the city's second homicide of the year.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — An Alexandria resident was killed Wednesday in what was classified as the city's second homicide of the year, according to Alexandria Police.
Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 5900 block of Quantrell Avenue around 3:50 p.m. on Wednesday. Officers found an adult man with an upper body injury. The victim, identified as John Pope, 57, of Alexandria, was taken to the hospital and died of his injuries.
On Sunday, Alexandria Police arrested Tavon Marquis Lanier, 19, of Alexandria, in the case. Police continue to investigate the fatal shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Ryan Clinch at 703-746-6673.
