New Alexandria Law Enforcement Officers Graduate From Academy
Five Alexandria police officers and four deputy sheriffs completed 20 weeks of rigorous training at the Criminal Justice Training Academy.
For West End Alexandria Patch: Nine new Alexandria law enforcement officers – five police officers and four deputy sheriffs – graduated from the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy on December 19. Sheriff Dana Lawhorne, Police Chief Michael L. Brown, and members of their command and training staffs attended Session 137’s graduation ceremony at George Mason University.
All nine successfully completed 20 weeks of training, including emergency vehicle operations, firearms training, defensive tactics, crash investigation, basic legal training, and other important areas, and deputies completed four additional weeks of training in jail and courthouse procedures.
Ceremony highlights included Officer Emily Plisco receiving the award for highest physical fitness score among female recruits and Deputy Lamar Gayle being part of the Combined Honor Guard that presented the colors.
The Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy serves the Alexandria Police Department, the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office and 15 other area law enforcement agencies.
