The heavily wooded lot includes plants rare to Alexandria, animals.
Alexandria’s newest park is likely more hospitable to plants and animals than people. Designed to be kept as a natural space in the West End, the heavily wooded area is home to some plants not found in many parts of the city and animals including birds, foxes, deer and rabbits.
Visitors can only explore the park from an old driveway that is now a rutted trail, unless they decide to venture off-path. The trail leads to what was once a sawmill, then a house that burned. Some building materials are left in that open area today.

The city is considering adding a trash can and benches to the park but doing little else. There are no plans to improve the trail.
The park lies just east of the corner of Polk Avenue and North Pelham Street.
