Plans Call for New Playground at Taney Avenue Park
Play areas will feature stone boulders, garden areas, low platforms or small gazebos to encourage imaginative play, according to the City.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- A 2.57-acre park in Alexandria's West End may soon be getting a playground, according to planning documents.

Taney Avenue Park, located at 4149 Taney Ave. (see map below) according to the City's parks department, hasn't changed since 1976.
With dozens of families nearby, the department says the park needs a playground. In addition to the playground, the parks department proposes to create a more defined park entry area, pedestrian trail improvements, fix split rail fence and invasive plant removal.

The plan goes before the Planning Commission June 7.
