Alexandria's Port City Brewing Co. brought home two silver medals Friday in the World Beer Championship in Chicago. The winners were the company's Essential Pale Ale, an American Pale Ale, and the Monumental IPA, an India Pale Ale. The championship accepts samples throughout the world for tastings four times a year, said founder Bill Butcher. Butcher said the company's porter won a silver medal in the championship last winter. Port City is located at 3950 Wheeler Ave. in West End Alexandria.
