Mount Purrnon Cat Café Pounces Into Alexandria In August
Cat lovers, rejoice. Mount Purrnon Cat Café and Wine Bar is opening on Saturday, Aug. 1 at 109 South Alfred Street in Old Town Alexandria. Reservations to meet the adoptable cats will be available at noon on Friday, according to owners Kristin Cowan and Adam Patterson.

Group To Walk 50 Miles To National Mall For Clean Water Access
You may remember Alex Covell and his team from last year's 50-mile walk from Vienna to Baltimore. On Saturday, the group is doing another 50-mile walk from Purcellville to the National Mall in DC. The route is different but the cause is the same: clean water access.

The Metropolitan Police Department released body-worn camera footage on YouTube of three officer-involved fatality incidents from 2018. The videos include the deaths of Jeffrey Price, D'Quon Young, and Marqueese Alston.
Alexandria Superintendent Seeks Virtual Start To School Year
Superintendent Gregory Hutchings Jr. is proposing a virtual start to the school year for Alexandria City Public Schools. The model called Virtual PLUS+ features 100 percent virtual learning with additional supports for students, staff and families. ACPS students will start the school year on Sept. 8.
