Vigil Planned For Alexandria Homicide Victim

A GoFundMe page was set up in honor of the man, who has a 1-month-old daughter.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A candlelight vigil is planned to honor an Alexandria homicide victim. The vigil for De'Shon Jenkins, 21, will happen Friday, Oct. 18 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the 300 block of South Reynolds Street, where the crime occurred.

Officers found Jenkins with an upper body injury on Oct. 9, and he was taken to the hospital. Jenkins died of his injuries on Oct. 11. This was Alexandria's second homicide of 2019.

According to a GoFundMe page, Jenkins leaves behind a 1-month-old daughter. Police have not released details of the shooting, but the page says he had been protecting his mother and daughter.
