After several cold mornings this week, Santa may have a sack full of light jackets for the region on Christmas. Here's a quick look.

STERLING, VA — We'll have a few more cold mornings this week, but the weekend will kick off several days of warmer temperatures, including a Christmas Day near 50 degrees. A weather gift this year? Temperatures heading close to 60 degrees as we begin the week after Christmas.
Temperatures will reach near 50 degrees on Thursday, but the windy day includes gusts up to 20 mph. It'll be sunny and cooler on Friday, with a high at 44 degrees. Overnight lows will be in the 20s Thursday and Friday mornings.
There's a chance for rain on Saturday as temperatures head back toward 50 degrees and overnight lows finally rise above freezing.

On Christmas Day, the forecast is mostly sunny, with a high near 49 degrees.
The heatwave begins Monday, as we reach 55 degrees, and Tuesday will get up to 58 degrees. We'll start cooling off toward the end of the week, with the forecast shaping up for a chilly New Year's Eve.

Christmas Day: Mostly sunny, with a high near 49.
Monday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 55.
Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 58.
