West End Businesses Promote Volunteer Efforts

Alexandria WEBA members will participate in Spring for Alexandria on Friday, May 3.

Members of Alexandria’s West End Business Association are lending a hand to help with Spring for Alexandria, a citywide volunteer initiative taking place beginning at 10 a.m. Friday.

This year is “WEBATeam's” fourth year participating. They and others will connect with hundreds of other volunteers to help build a better Alexandria by gardening, landscaping, painting and much more. The projects strengthen nonprofits, schools and city agencies and add to the safety and wellbeing of Alexandrians.

The day begins with volunteers reporting to their pre-assigned projects at 9:45 a.m. The WEBATeam will be helping at Shelter Care, 5920 Stevenson Ave, near Landmark. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., volunteers will take part in their assigned service projects.

Spring for Alexandria is also a fundraiser for Volunteer Alexandria. The money raised connects volunteers to Alexandria nonprofit and city agencies, as well as community events, throughout the year. WEBA donates $500 each year to Spring for Alexandria and requests members will donate, too.
