AUBURN, WA — The Safeway at 101 Auburn Way South has been evacuated and searched for survivors after a portion of the building's roof collapsed Thursday morning.

Valley Regional Fire first reported the collapse around 8:30 a.m. They say a section of roof measuring roughly 10 by 50 feet collapsed. The collapse happened in the store's back stocking area, and knocked out the building's power, water and gas.

After the roof collapsed, employees were quickly evacuated, and Valley Regional Fire says their crews searched the collapsed area, and haven't found anyone trapped in the rubble. Police have set up a perimeter blocking access to the building as investigators try to determine how the collapse happened.
