The 'Best Summer Beer' In Washington Comes In A Can

A new report says this refreshing brew should always be in your cooler.

YAKIMA, WA - Drive about two miles outside the Yakima city limits along SR 24, and you'll find yourself in the middle of hop country. And right in the middle you'll find Bale Breaker, Washington's fifth-largest independent brewer, and one that has built its reputation on producing cans of highly enjoyable unfiltered IPA and pale ale.

Bale Breaker's flagship pale, Field 41, was recently selected by Popular Mechanics as the best beer from Washington to drink during summer. The magazine praised Field 41 for its relatively low alcohol content and that it's made from Simcoe and Cascade hops grown right her in Washington.

Out-of-state brews available in Washington also made the list: Firestone Walker Pivo Pilsner (California); Big Sky Moose Drool Brown Ale (Montana); Pelican Kiwanda Cream Ale (Oregon); and Prairie Standard Farmhouse Ale (Oklahoma).
