BURIEN, WA — Four deputies took it upon themselves to bring some Christmas joy to a young boy who was seriously injured in a crash at a Burien clothing store this month. David is just two years old. He was injured, alongside his grandfather and nine others, after a van plowed into the Burien Ross and hit his stroller on Dec. 16. Deputies said David did not have a pulse when they arrived, but medics were able to revive him and get him to Harborview Medical Center.

"The two-year-old boy, David, continues to recover but will likely be in the hospital for another three months," the sheriff's office wrote in a social media post. "His grandfather has been released, but the family is struggling to heal — emotionally, physically and financially."

The sheriff's office said neighbors and first responders have donated money to the family to help cover their bills while the recovery continues. Deputies Corcoran, Sandu, Marquez and Cain all used their own money to buy a replacement stroller for David and make sure he had toys on Christmas morning.
