Funeral For Orting Fire Captain Next Week
Capt. Art Vazquez died on July 22 after a struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder.
ORTING, WA - An Orting fire captain who died on July 22 will be remembered in a public ceremony in Tacoma on Aug. 9.
Capt. Art Vazquez suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder.
"It's with a heavy heart that Orting Valley Fire and Rescue and the International Association of Firefighters Local 4459 announce the passing of one of our beloved members, Captain Art Vazquez. Captain Vazquez took his own life as a result of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time. The Orting Valley Fire and Rescue family will pull together to make sure they get all the support they need," Orting fire said in a statement after Vazquez' death.
